Preface

Georg Harfensteller researches and teaches at the Institute of Philosophy at the University of Vienna, focusing on phenomenology, social theory, and violence research. His work explores the structure of collective identity formation, shared affectivity, and the mechanisms by which shared spaces of meaning and experience operate.

In my dissertation, “Performative Vergemeinschaftung: Ansätze zu einer Phänomenologie religiöser und politischer Zusammengehörigkeit”, supervised by Univ.-Prof. Dr. Georg Stenger and PD Dr. Michael Staudigl, I developed a socio-phenomenological approach to religious and political gatherings as a descriptive starting point for community-building beyond mediated ideological content.
